“Lucky Them” from Project Lucky MeJun 2025
From the survey, I found that two respondents from different backgrounds and ages shared a similar experience: each had a brother of a similar age, yet their families tended to allocate resources to the male child. Both struggled with this inequality, but each encountered a mentor who suggested that pursuing further studies abroad could change their situation. They also shared the same kind of “luck”—their families had sufficient resources to support the expenses of studying abroad. However, unlike their brothers, they had to put in far greater effort to secure such opportunities.
從問卷發現兩位不同背景、年齡的受訪者擁有相似的經驗——家中有年紀相仿的兄弟,家庭資源卻傾向男性。兩位主角都為此所苦,但也剛好都遇到了一位貴人,提議能夠透過出國深造改變現狀,而她們也剛好都擁有同樣的「幸運」——家庭有足夠的資源可以支持出國所需花費,但同時他們也必須付出比兄弟更多的努力才能得到這樣的資源。
